Mansfield Victoria

Mansfield is a small town in the foothills of the Victorian part of the Australian Alps. Formerly heavily dependent on farming and logging, it is now a tourist centre and is the support town for the Australian Ski resort of Mount Buller.

Situated approximately185 kms north east of Melbourne, the administrative area of Mansfield Shire was first proclaimed on 31st December 1866.

It was amalgamated with the City and Shire of Benalla in 1994  to form the

Delatite Shire, but on de-amalgamation in 2002 it proudly resumed its own identity of Mansfield Shire.

A pretty town with wide leafy boulevards, it has a very strong sense of community and offers the warmest of welcomes to all visitors—— unless your name is Ned Kelly!

However, being no relation of the infamous Ned, two of the members of the Mansfield Nottinghamshire Sister Cities Association, Rotarian Donald and Jane Mackenzie, visited the area in 2006 and received a “right royal reception” at the Shire Hall by the Mayor, the Chief Executive and the President-elect of the Rotary Club of Mansfield Victoria.
